Leeds United target will be let go if pay cut not agreed

According to Turkish media outlet Fotomac, Leeds United could be offered pay rebel target Jeremain Lens should the former Holland international not accept a pay cut.

Fotomac say that Lens’ current side Besiktas are ready to place the 31-year-old on the transfer list should he not accept a club-mandated pay cut. They say that Besiktas has “demanded a discount” that Lens must sacrifice “for the next 3 years” that amounts to a sum of €650,000.

Should the former Sunderland man not be willing to accept this ‘discount’, Besiktas will make the decision to move him out of the club. Leeds United are mentioned as a side that desired to have Lens, Fotomac mentioning that it “was claimed” the Whites had left a bid with Besiktas.

Leeds United are facing a run-in to the end of their Sky Bet Championship season that is taking a number of twists and turns. A defeat by 10-man Wigan has dropped them to 3rd in the table, behind neck-and-neck challengers Sheffield United.

Three games left, against Brentford, Aston Villa and Ipswich will be the deciders of this exciting season for the Whites. The culmination of these games will leave Whites fans with either automatic promotion to the Premier League or the troubles of the play-off places.

Should they rises to the Premier League, Leeds United could very well turn out next season with Jeremain Lens in their side. The 34-cap Netherlands international has featured in 31 games across all competitions for Besiktas this season, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists.
