Chalobah and Dozzell Win Caps But England U20s Defeated

Trevoh Chalobah skippered and Andre Dozzell was also in the starting line-up as England’s U20s were beaten 3-1 by Poland in the U20 Elite League at St George’s Park yesterday, while Flynn Downes was an unused sub.

Chalobah, on loan with the Blues from Chelsea for the season, and Dozzell, who was replaced after 65 minutes, were winning their third caps at U20 level, while Downes has previously won one.

The Young Lions face Portugal away in Penafiel in another U20 Elite League game on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Blues defender Jonas Knudsen was an unused sub as Denmark drew 2-2 away against Kosovo in a friendly in Pristina last night.

England U20s: Schofield (Notts County, loan from Huddersfield Town), Edwards (Stoke City) (James (Wigan Athletic, loan from Chelsea) 46), Pearce (Scunthorpe United, loan from Leeds United), Field (West Bromwich Albion) (Hirst (OH Leuven) 87), Godfrey (Norwich City), Chalobah (Ipswich Town, loan from Chelsea), Diangana (West Ham United) (Eze (Queens Park Rangers) 65), Dozzell (Ipswich Town) (Vieira (Sampdoria) 65), Nketiah (Arsenal), Embleton (Grimsby Town, loan from Sunderland) (Tavernier (Middlesbrough) 22), McNeil (Burnley). Unused: Austin (Tottenham Hotspur), Wilmot (Udinese, loan from Watford), Downes (Ipswich Town), Balcombe (Borehamwood, loan from Brentford).

If we get snookers and the ref adds on 10 weeks added time we might be able to catch Birmingham on goal difference now.
