Brentford Boss Admits Judge Could Leave Bees Monday, 14th Jan 2019 11:23
Brentford manager Thomas Frank has admitted that Blues target Alan Judge could be set to leave the Bees in the coming days with Town leading the chase but with other clubs also now understood to be in the hunt.
The Blues have been in talks regarding a move for the 30-year-old since the end of last week with a report in West London last night claiming a deal is close to being concluded. However, other sides are believed to have started to show interest in the Republic of Ireland international over the weekend.
“There’s rumours about different clubs and it maybe could happen that he is not here any more," Frank told Football.London after the Bees’ 3-1 home victory over Stoke on Saturday. “But yeah, that is the situation right now."
Judge, who is out of contract at Griffin Park at the end of the season and is available for a cut-price fee, was left out of the squad for that game having only made only seven starts and 17 sub appearances for the Bees this season, scoring twice.
Asked about his interest in Judge on Saturday following Saturday's 1-0 victory over Rotherham, Blues boss Paul Lambert was keeping a straight bat.
“I don’t know where that one’s come from,” he insisted. “I just woke up to that this morning. I know of the lad, a really good player. I just woke up to that this morning.
“We can’t do another loan. We’ll have six and if you have to manage six loans it’s too much. I don’t want to go down that road, having another loan because I think you’ve got to leave one lad out.”
With Judge’s contract is up at the end of the season the deal Town are believed to be negotiating is a permanent switch.
“Is it? Is that what they’re saying?” Lambert continued. “I don’t know. I didn’t really pay much attention to it because of the game. He’s a really good player, a really good player.”
The former Blackburn, Plymouth (loan) and Notts County man suffered a broken leg at Portman Road in April 2016, an injury which kept him out of first-team action until January 2018.
Dubliner Judge previously came close to joining the Blues from the Magpies in the summer of 2013, however, he instead returned to Blackburn, where he had previously been a youth player, for a second spell.

in this sort of situation his location is ok already, lets hope Paul Lambert being the don of football can be the persuading vote. If we actually buy him he will be in week in week out so the game time will be a major pull also.

Gutted if we don't get him. Had a feeling this might happen as soon as it dragged on a couple of days saying it was close. I hope we can get it done as we don't have much of a creative player like him, especially with the Championship experience that he has.
Not convinced it will happen to be fair, I don't think lambert would have said first he'd heard and then sign him- he would have just done the old "rate him as a player jazz" if other teams go in for him, cant imagine bottom of the league looks too appealing- especially on a permanent transfer
Without being too negative not sure he's the same player after the leg break from that bad tackle from Luke Hyam...my Uncle lives near Brentford and is a season ticket holder and I saw him play against Birmingham and he was dreadful, also remember him come on as a sub against us (which he has largely done this season) and couldn't put a foot right.
Thats not good. Even if Evans competes financially being bottom of the League isnt a great draw if others are interested. Given this has been dragging on for a few days now though I guess it was always likely to happen.
If he's not interested then move.on.There must be plenty more players about that would jump at the chance to play here. My main concern at the moment is RB.Dont get me wrong Judge is a very good player and would add bite and goals hopefully to our brittle midfield.The problem is we need reinforcements now,best not let it drag out.I have great faith in you Paul so please pull another rabbit out of the bag.ðŸ™
We love reading about good players that we are in talks with or just interested in, but lately we seem to be alerting other clubs to the potential availability of some players that may not have been considered elsewhere up to that point.
Our negotiations have and continue to take far too long for every player we show interest in, totally unacceptable and very demoralising for all concerned!
Other clubs could be anyone, even lower leagues so just wait and see. If it's meant to be it will be. No point bitching about something that hasn't even happened yet.
If in doubt, drag it out! I can sense a royal gazumping come on but hope I'm wrong as the lad looks quality, looks to have a killer delivery which we're badly missing!
